Omega-3 fatty acids are natural, healthy oils that are found in many cells in your body, but especially in cells in your brain and eyes. They play an important role in healthy blood vessels, heart, immune system and lungs.
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential nutrients that are important to manage a healthy heart, and may also support the heart during times of mental stress. This is why including foods that are high in the omega-3 fats EPA and DHA, such as oily fish, is encouraged as part of a healthy balanced diet. You should eat at least two servings a week of fatty fish, such as salmon, sardines, tuna or trout.
